Effect of Carbon Sources, Nitrogen Sources and Trace Minerals on the Growth and Fumonisin B©û Production of Fusarium moniliforme
Chung Soo-Hyun

Abstract
In the present study, an attempt was made to investigate the effects of various carbon sources, nitrogen sources and minerals on the mycelial growth and fumonisin B©û(FB©û) production of Fusarium monillforme NRRL 13569 in liquid culture. Xylose and soytone were found to be the best carbon and nitrogen sources for mycelial growth, respectively. Yeast extract and ammonium sulfate were found to be the best for the FB©û production as organic and inorganic N-source, respectively, while no FB©û was detected when sodium nitrate was used. Among the minerals examined, the mycelial growth and FBi production were enhanced by Zn.
